Dense, opaque, pink or mottled pink-and-white variety of Zoisite that was first found in Norway and named after Thule, the ancient name for that country. Thulite is used as a gemstone and carving material in the manufacture of jewellery and ornamental objects. The pink varity of Zoisite who have its own name Thulite is not as famous as Tanzanite wich is the Blueviolet most welknown varity of the mineral. Very rare and Tanzania is the only deposit, however there is also zoisite in other colours. In other places one have also found Zoisite of gemstone quality. The material is then often described as "Yellow Tanzanite" and so on. However maybe Thulite in gemstone quality even more rare than its relative Tanzanite.
