Afganistan is considered to have the most beutiful blue Lapis, but there is deposits in Russia (Bajkal) and Burma aswell. Lapis Lazuli is more correctly a type of rock consisting of several minerals. Such as Lazulite 20-40% (give the stunning blue colour) and pyrite or/and calcite. The more pyrite included the more dull and greenish the colour comes. The name Lapis Lazuli comes from Arabic and Latin for Blue Stone.
