Garnets as a group are very large and divided into two main groups, Pyralspite and Ugrandite. These groupes are further divided into sub-groups. For Pyralspite these are Pyrope, Almandite and Spessartite. Ugrandite have subgroups Grossular, Andradite and Uvarovite. Furthermore, mixing or blending of "subset varieties" are common, where Rhodolite is an example of the garnet type between Pyrope and Almandite.
