There are large amounts of synthetic emerald on the market. Hydrothermal process’ are used used as well as flux-fusion process’ and other techniques. It is also possible to produce aquamarine and other beryl synthetically but this is regarded as uneconomical and instead synthetic corundum is used, which is cheaper.
